FASHION ISLAND

What does the perfect shopping place looks like ? FASHION ISLAND

Fashion Island is not an island surrounded by water ahaha . It’s a huge upscale shopping mall with really good places to relax, eat and have a drink.

It’s located in the very wealthy part of Newport Beach, California. So when you arrived for the first time you can’t help yourself counting the luxury european cars parked everywhere.

Unlike most of the shopping mall i visited before, you have a lot of seeting and outdoor places where to relax. This Mall respects the California style with palmtrees everywhere and a breathtaking view over the Pacific. Fashion Island is kid  friendly and has a fish pond in the middle of the shopping center where all the children love playing.

IMG_2638.JPG

There are different entertaitments, live shows at various time  of the day (mostly music). I love drinking my starbucks seated in the shade while listening to the various artists.

BECAUSE IT’S SHOP O’CLOCK SOMEWHERE…

Among the brands present in this shopping mall you’ll find: Forever 21, Brandy Melville, Lululemon, Urban Outfitters, Nike, PINK, Victoria’s Secret, Urban Decay, Seafolly, G-Star, Lorna Jane and many more. As an European, I must confess I didn’t know the other brands haha but that’s not bad. Click here to see the list in details.

You have also departments store such has Bloomingdale’s, Macy’s and Nordstrom. If you are looking for luxurious shopping you have Neiman Marcus. Neiman Marcus is a luxury department store which gathers the most popular brands such as Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Balenciaga, Fendi, Prada, Saint Laurent ect…

GOOD FOOD IS GOOD MOOD.

In fashion island you have a classic food court with Panda Express, Five Guys, Subway etc but you have also a selection of good restaurants and chains.

If i really want to save some content for another article, i will only tell you that The Cheesecake Factory IS MY NEW OBSESSION. They have maybe the biggest menu i have ever seen in my life. And whatever you pick, it’s always good..I also went to True Food Kitchen. This is a restaurant chain, launched by a doctor that wanted to show people we can eat good and tasty healthy food . Here is some picture of the dishes we ordered last time.

In Fashion Island we also find the famous asian restaurant P.F CHANG’S, Lemonade (the best fast food EVER), Fig and Olive (French Mediterranean), California Pizza Chicken (American Pizza), Pain du Monde (French), RED O Restaurant (Mexican), Cucina Enoteca (Italian), Sushi Roku (Japenese Sushi bars)…As you may see you have a large range of choice and the price range is wide too. It’s not because it’s a fancy place that having lunch is expensive:) Click here to access the full list.

I had a reallly bad experience as a little juice bar called JUICE SERVED HERE. I love juices and smoothies. I believe this is all you need when you do shoppping under 90°F. But the flavors are really .. EWW!!!!! Not good. When you are thirsty under a terrible heat, how can you drink a juice with Celery, Red Apple, Spinach, Kale, Romaine, Lemon, Ginger????  So obviously they propose you to try some of each and you are like: Are they  kidding me or is this a real business? So if you come to stop by this juice shop, don’t pull the door or take the easiest one. Orange, Pineapple, Strawberry and that’s it. No bad suprise.

The opening hours of Fashion Island are 10AM-9PM.

And guess what ? They have WIFI

La Carte Sim/Sim Card

[ENGLISH BELOW]

———————————————-

It has been 10days already on the american continent. 10 days during which i discovered multiple places to shop, eat and drink in south Orange County. It makes me want to stay between bed and the pool-side to write, write, write all day long. Obviously i run out of time with all the things i have to accomplish before going back to school.

The first thing i was proud to do by myself was purchasing an american Sim card. From the moment you get an american number, you no longer feel like a tourist but like a resident. Therefore, i think this step deserves an article🙂

The main phone operators in the US are AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile. I was recommended to choose AT&T because they have the best 3G cover in the US. For 60$ i have unlimited calls and texts in the US + 6GB. An international option in your home country costs $10 a month. To subsribe you just need to go in person and bring your passport and credit card. You can then decide between being automaticaly credited or pay your monthly fee at the computer inside every AT&T shops. They have an amazing and really simple personal interface on their website where you can visualise your account, see your consomation, add a little more internet ect..

See ya in a few days. This week i was working on buying a car and passing the californian driving license. Hope you guys will find these information usefull someday. xoxo🙂

New Life : D-7 Nothing’s ready! (FR&EN)

[ENGLISH BELOW]

(Après un bon burger à In n Out).

ENFINNN ! A très vite

I cannot believe how fast time flies. Only one week to go before i leave🙂

It’s time to open my luggage again and start thinking about the content. I know this week is going to be intense. No rest planned. Only fun, friends and family that i leave til the end of december.😦. My mind is so busy right now. My arrival is not really ready yet.It sounds like i have been lazy to prepare everything but trust me, I started to be preoccupied about all these details 3 months ago, but nothing has been solved. Things go very slowly because the university is drowing under students e mails. It’s hard to get answered quickly which is very stressful when they give you deadlines to respect. So is the residence where I am going to live. The closer we get to the school intake, the slower the answers…However this kind of problem does not take my excitment away. I can’t wait to be there, enjoy life and see LAUREN❤.

This is litteraly so exciting. The move in date is scheduled on August 20! I’ll live at the University House of Fullerton with 2 friends of mine from France and a 4th American roomate. I’ll write an article about this place once i have moved in.

But before moving in, I’ll be in Newport Beach and Huntington. Great times ahead!

I will never be thankfull enought towards my parents for financing my experience in America.❤❤

Stay tuned to read my really first and exciting experiences as a student in the US🙂 See you soon !

California Beach Girl Makeup

Easy, Natural and Beachy!

The “dewy” look does not require a lot of time and products. While in winter you want a matte makeup, in summer you crave a glowing tanned makeup. Glow appears to have taken hold everywhere in the world.

Here are my favorite products to arm yourself with to get the West Coast look🙂

welcome (3)

Step by Step..

1.Marc Jacobs – Under(cover) – Perfecting Coconut Face Primer – $44

This product comes from Marc Jacobs’s love for coconut water. This undercover is infused with 5 types of coconut. It brings refreshing feels + extends makeup wear. Nothing’s better than applying this hydrating and fresh primer across your face before foundation.

2.Urban Decay – Beached Bronzer – $28

It gives a radiant glow to your skin and a summer golden foundation. According to me, it has the perfect level of coverage and i can’t get enough of the packaging…  It’s unbelievably cool!

3.Urban Decay – Naked Flushed – $32

Blush is so important. The naked flush has 3 different shades inside. You have a bronzer, a highlighter and a blush. The finish is flawless: Glowy and fresh.

4.Estée Lauder – Genuine Glow -Eyelighting Creme For Eyes And Face – $20

It’s one of Estée Lauder latest products integrated in the Genuine Glow line that is said to be water-based and oil free. The sponge is really nice and smooth. It brightens your eyes and gives them the spotlight! I am used to apply it roughly from the crease to the eyebrow.

5.Marc Jacobs – New Nudes – $30

I waited so long for some good nude lipsticks!! These nude come with a retro sixties packaging. I have a preference for the Anais color which is a kind of warmish nude. To be added to the beach makeup look as well.

6.Too Faced – Better than Sex – $23

I am literally in love with the superpower of the Too Faced Better than Sex mascara brush. They finally created the waterproof version of it, needed to keep your dark eyelashes despite of the summer heat.

7.Mac – Mineralize Skinfinish – $32

This is what will makes you glower than all the others. You can use it to highlight your cheek bones but also your neckline. It will change your life for sure.

So now, you have all the products and tips to look like the glowiest California mermaid !:)))

Moodboard

Los Angeles Moodboard

As my summer holidays started 2 months ago, i had to keep myself busy with an internship.

I am currently working for the fragrance marketing departement of Reminiscence Paris with a pretty young and amazing team. Everything i could have dreamed of before summer: Learning and having fun.

I really enjoy building inspirational moodboards for the fragrances we sell. Scrolling on pinterest until i have cumulated enought inspirations in my portfolio, selecting them depending one the homogeneity criteria and depending on which atmosphere or feelings i want to communicate. Moodboard helps other people to get into your head and it also helps you express yourself beyond words (like art ahaha).

For all of you that had a tumblr once or still have one, moodboard skills have certainly interfered with your DNA…

Why did i choose California ?

Since i decided to move to LA in Fall, people often ask me why did i not choose a closer destination such as NY or Miami to start with, or even a more extreme destination such as Australia.

Are you all mad? Australia for 2 year is definitely too faaaaar!!! It’s not even imaginable to be this far from home. Nobody would ever visit me ahah. New York? Too many buildings, too urban. New York looks like nothing less than a capital.  I don’t like places in constant rush for day to day life. Miami? This city is cool but too touristic, and my hair could not undergo the constant wet weather for more than 2weeks ahaha

Well now, after this paragraph, I imagine you all started thinking I might be the most boring girl ever. No no pleaaase. What i really want to say is that these destinations are not made for me and in the long term (cause 2years for me is a long term lol), i could not find my happiness. It’s a matter of opinion. I might be biased by my own experiences.

I am really fortunate to have already 3 past travel experiences in Cali

  • 2005: i visited my aunt and uncle in Truckee, a small city close to the Tahoe Lake. I was quite young at that time and this travel had left a mark on me and it was definitely my first big love with California.

truckee3

  • 2012: Summer road trip with my family. We visited the main big cities and national parks. We also visited a few places in Utha, Arizona and Nevada.
  • Christmas 2015: Little visit to Aaron and we mainly were in Newport.

3 visits after which I gradually developed an obsession for California.

What do I love the most about California

1.The climate. Having always lived in Cannes, I have been used through the seasons to live a long summer from May to mid November (Come on, 16 degrees is still summer!). We have not that much rainy days during the year and it usually snows once in a decade. When it happens, trust me, we forgot how to drive our cars and how to dress.. In Southern California, the weather is quite similar if not even warmer and winter season is quasi inexistent. THE DREAM

2. The ocean. Being a pure Mediterranean, i have this need of living where the coast is. It would be impossible for me to live in the middle of the lands, at 3hours from the sea or ocean. (Kansas is definitely not my dream..)

3.The mentality. The “Live and Let Live Attitude”. The Californian stereotype is anti-stress, relax. Chill Bro’! and particularly respectful. People on the road let insert yourself when you are struggling (definitely not like in France) and if you are fc831eea601279640e31c0a53d9b5282pedestrian waiting on the sidewalk, the drivers let you pass the pedestrian crossing because they are respectful yes! Again not like France .. ahaha Furthermore, generally speaking, the Californian are really warm and friendly. They have always something kind to tell you that make you feel comfortable. It’s veryyyy easy to make new friends.

4.The healthy trend and the body worship. Most of the people have a healthy lifestyle. Even if the economy and state budget is suffering, when it comes to healthy lifestyle, at least the coastal Californians are the healthier: low rate of obesity and smoking. Comparing to the other states, California is leading the nation. The California girls these last year’s became the new heroines of the American dream. all these girls IG accounts with their perfect sculpted body inspired more than one of us to subscribe to the gym! (meeeeeee!)

5. The landsapes diversity. Mountains, ocean, skyscrapers.. so much beautiful places to discover. Between Palm Spring, La Jolla, Huntington, Mammoth Lake, the Death Valley, Yosemite, Sequoia Park.. Bref you see. That’s not the most bring state existing.

6. Style. Forget about Sandro and Maje and bring your favorite vans. No headache when it comes to your style.

c9679ddd298c9a95db36a2a969554b07

7. The cultural diversityIf you like hanging out, go to gatherings, go where the people are, you will realize you are not the only foreigner which makes new people integration easier.

In short, I love where I am going. Thanks dad and mom.

New York ? Trop de buildings, trop citadin. New York à vraiment des allures de capitale qui me font un peu peur pour y vivre au quotidien. Bien que je rêve de visiter The Big Apple un jour, je ne me vois pas y vivre. Tout comme notre  french version of it : Paris. Miami? Trop humide, trop chaud, trop touristique.

3. La mentalité. La “Live and Let Live Attitude”. Le californien est anti stress, très relax. Chill Bro’!
